A fast-growing fintech company is rebuilding the infrastructure behind asset-backed finance. Its platform helps financial institutions and businesses manage complex debt facilities, streamline operations, and reduce the time and cost associated with financing.

The company is expanding its engineering team to support growing enterprise adoption and increasingly complex client implementations.

The Challenge

We're looking for a hands-on Forward Deployed Engineer to own the technical delivery of each signed debt facility, from operational requirements through production deployment and go-live.

You'll work directly with clients and internal Operations stakeholders to translate real-world financial workflows into reliable software. This is a high-ownership role for an engineer who enjoys solving complex problems, building practical solutions, and taking responsibility for outcomes beyond writing code.

You'll join a new team working alongside an existing 9-person Product Engineering team.

What You'll Do

• Own end-to-end technical onboarding, from requirements definition to production go-live.
• Work directly with clients and Operations stakeholders to understand workflows, data, and business requirements.
• Build and deploy production software tailored to client-specific needs.
• Integrate live client data and troubleshoot complex technical and operational issues.
• Challenge assumptions and propose better technical solutions when requirements or workflows can be improved.
• Take ownership of implementation quality and reliability after launch.
• Collaborate with Product Engineering to deliver scalable and maintainable solutions.

Must-Haves

• Strong hands-on software engineering and backend development experience.
• Strong Python skills and the ability to build production-ready software.
• Proven experience working directly with clients in a forward-deployed, embedded engineering, implementation, or similar technical delivery role.
• Experience owning client implementations from technical discovery through production deployment.
• Experience with APIs, databases, and external system integrations.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently in ambiguous environments.
• Excellent communication skills with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Willingness to travel to the United States to work with clients.

Nice-to-Haves

• Experience in fintech, lending, payments, banking infrastructure, treasury, or financial services.
• Experience with PostgreSQL, AWS, and backend APIs.
• Experience integrating complex financial workflows and client-specific data.
• Previous Forward Deployed Engineer experience or work in an embedded engineering environment.
• Experience in fast-paced startups and high-ownership engineering teams.

What Success Looks Like

• Taking each signed debt facility from operational definition to production go-live.
• Delivering reliable implementations with minimal ongoing engineering intervention.
• Achieving the target of zero engineering tickets during the six months following go-live.

Location & Travel

Madrid is the preferred location, with a hybrid working arrangement. Candidates based elsewhere in Europe or on the US East Coast may also be considered.

Candidates must be comfortable traveling to US client sites.

Compensation & Benefits

• €60,000–€80,000 annual base salary.
• Performance bonus of up to 30%.

Selection Process

1. Two culture-and-fit interviews, each lasting 30–45 minutes with an engineer.
2. A take-home technical assignment expected to take no more than 2–4 hours.
3. Two technical interviews with two interviewers each. One interview will include a member of the Operations team.
