Backend Engineer — TypeScript (Crypto)

About the Role

We are partnering with a regulated financial technology company building financial infrastructure for the AI and token economy, including trading, stablecoin settlement, and cross-border payments.

We are looking for a Backend Engineer with strong TypeScript skills to build and maintain reliable backend services and integrations supporting financial products.

You will collaborate with engineering, product, and business teams to translate complex requirements into secure, scalable solutions.

What You’ll Do

• Design, develop, and maintain backend services using TypeScript and Node.js
• Build APIs and integrations with external platforms and financial service providers
• Design data models and optimize database queries for performance and reliability
• Implement asynchronous workflows, background jobs, and error-handling mechanisms
• Ensure services handle sensitive data and transactions securely and consistently
• Write automated tests, review code, and maintain technical documentation
• Monitor production services, troubleshoot issues, and improve system observability
• Use AI coding assistants to support development while maintaining code quality and security
• Collaborate with product and compliance teams to translate requirements into technical solutions

Must-Have:

• Professional experience developing and maintaining backend applications in production
• Strong proficiency in TypeScript and Node.js
• Experience designing and integrating REST APIs
• Experience with relational databases, data modeling, and SQL
• Understanding of authentication, authorization, and secure coding practices
• Experience with automated testing, Git, and collaborative development workflows
• Hands-on experience using AI coding assistants such as Claude Code, Cursor, or GitHub Copilot for development, debugging, and refactoring, with critical review of AI-generated code
• Ability to investigate production issues and make sound technical decisions
• Availability to work on-site in Dubai or remote from Europe

Nice-to-Have:

• Experience in fintech, payments, trading, or cryptocurrency platforms
• Familiarity with blockchain integrations, stablecoins, or digital asset transactions
• Experience with distributed systems, message queues, and event-driven architectures
• Familiarity with transaction processing, idempotency, and reconciliation
• Experience with cloud infrastructure, Docker, and CI/CD pipelines
